Renesas Electronics RX651 RX Microcontrollers

Author : Renesas Published Time : 2019-09-17
Renesas Electronics RX651 RX Microcontrollers adds four 64-pin MCUs to mainstream RX651 MCUs that use the RXv2 Core CPU. The RX651 64-pin MCUs enable security and flash functionality for industrial applications. Each MCU’s Trusted Secure IP (TSIP) and Flash area protection provides root of trust device operation. The dual-bank flash feature (BGO and swap) make the flash firmware update easier through secure network communication. The 64-pin package reduces PCB footprint area for IoT edge applications.

Features

Provide advanced IoT edge device, with a general-purpose RX651 MCU
RX651 MCU employs RXv2 core using 40nm process that allows great performance/power efficient for CPU operation: with 520 CoreMark and 35 CoreMark/mA operationEasy and secure firmware updates using dual bank flash and Trusted Secure IP64-pin devices realize firmware update functionality including the dual bank flash integration supporting BGO (Back Ground operation) and the SWAP function, making it easier for customers to implement firmware update in the market64-pin devices with Trusted Secure IP encryption engine has the option to realize root of trust by combining the following three new features:Protect encryption key with TSIPIntegration of Encryption Hardware Accelerators like RSA, AES, 3DES, SHA and TRNG as part of TSIPProtect boot code with area protection of FlashRX651 64-pin package enhances the performance lineup with a small footprint for cost sensitive IoT edge applications
4.5mm TFBGA package reduces footprint by 90% compared to the 100-pin LFQFP package, and by 60% compared to the 100-pin TFLGA package so it fits on a small size PCB.64-pin LQFP package is for cost sensitive PCB designs. The 64-pin devices have highest performance [for 64-pin package with RXv2 core] such as 120MHz, 2MB Flash, 640KB SRAM, Trusted Secure IP, making them an excellent fit for IoT edge device applications
