Futaba Chip In Glass (CIG) LCD Emulator VFD Modules are designed to allow easy conversion from hard-to-read LCDs to vibrant Vacuum Fluorescent Displays (VFD). These VFD modules improve the display's viewing angle, readability, and temperature range. The CIG LCD emulator VFD modules consist of a DC-DC converter, multiple characters by multiple line 5 x 8 dot matrix display, and controller/driver circuitry. These modules have a dual-port RAM that allows data and instructions to be sent to them continuously. A character generator ROM with 240 5 x 8 characters is provided along with the RAM for the user to program an additional 8 characters. The CIG LCD emulator VFD modules offer complex scrolling features for animation, simultaneous text and graphics, independent windows, fixed and proportional fonts, and built-in screen savers. These modules include both 8-bit parallel and synchronous serial data inputs.
